I've been playing lead guitar now for about 15 years and I'm still learning. My main influences are Iron Maiden,Metallica and Megadeth.
My first guitar and amp was an Aria pro II-Gibson 335 copy played through a Roland 10 watt practise amp. I have many fond memories of the times I tried to copy my guitar heros Dave Murray (Iron Maiden),Kirk Hammett(Metallica),Dave Mustaine(Megadeth)and more recently Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake). On my 18th birthday my dad bought me my first Marshall it was a Valvestate 80Watt this was a dream come true at the time and had the honor of using it at my 18th party. This was my first public performance. I hung around many guitarists over the next few years learning some of their skills. I tried to start several bands but nothing really took off, until now.
I am currently the lead guitarist of a band called Beyond Recognition, we play a good range of rock music trying to give a variety of well known rock classics our own musical interpretation. You can find the band at www.beyondrecognition.info or simply click on the link at the bottom of this page.
My current equipment consists of an Ibenez RG550 set up with Ernie Ball super slinky 0.009 gauge strings. With the large V8 humbucker pick-up on the guitar and the Ernie Ball strings I find that this set up gives me a great sound for heavy rock. This consists of a good combination of low end distortion and clear high note definition for solos. Also with the strings being nickel wound they give a good consistant feel.
The current amp I use is a Marshall 100watt HDFX head with 4x12 cab this is a monster of an amp and is great for all the rock music the band plays. The awesome high gain distortion is complimented by the clear tones of the clean channel and with the internal effects controlled by the switch pedal covers all aspects of what I play. |
